DIY Laundry Detergent (Smells Amazing for Weeks!)

Hi All!
I’ve been away for quite some time but I’m back!!
This is a post I’ve been wanting to write for a while.
DIY Laundry Powder!!
As you all know, hubby and I were married young!
Of course, we tried to save money in every way we could think of!
I stumbled on this one day on Pinterest and went for it.
It cost about $11.00 to make and $6.00 for the tub I use to store it.
This usually lasts us about four months (six months if used properly).
We normally wash three loads per week.
All items were purchased at Wal-Mart (they seem to have the best prices.)

Products to make detergent:
1 box of Borax
1 box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
1 Box of Baking Soda
2 Bottles of Purex Crystals (whatever scent you’d like)
1 box of Purex or Oxi Stain Fighter
1 box of Zote Soap Flakes.

You can also buy a bar of Zote soap, but you will have to grate the soap into fine pieces.
The bar usually is $1.00 after taxes and the box of flakes are $2.
After you’ve gathered all your ingredients simply mix everything on the tub. I use a large spoon the mix well.

I use one of the caps from the Purex crystals to scoop the detergent (hubby uses three 🤦🏽‍♀️ ).

This is a great way the save if you are a college student or a frugal family of six!
The smell lasts for weeks, I washed a shirt three weeks ago and I still smell the scent!
Let me know if you are going to try it out or if you have another DIY laundry detergent recipe!

Christ, Peace & Naps ✌🏾

  1. This is such a blessing to come across! I've known about homemade laundry soap for some time but the only recipe I've ever seen is the one you have to do on the stove. And you have to grate your own soap flakes. I've always wanted to try it but have never made the time. THIS recipe is so easy, I have to try it! Putting it on my Wal-Mart list now! :)
